For the wearable sculptural set of mix media wings, each element was individually made, starting with creating hundreds of wire feathers different in sizes, using a handmade wooden former block. A wire frame was created using a newspaper prototype as a template, wire feathers were then wrapped onto lengths of wire and filled with latex, the inclusion cogs within some feathers.
Once each piece had dried the lengths were then attached to the wire frame, creating six feathered panels.
Each of the panel’s skeleton was wrapped in a faux leather cord and then connected. Taking inspiration from the corsets found in the digital element of the project the back was laced together in the style of the corset, additional cogs were attached to the front leather cord and created a join.
